Frank b. Seattle, 1993, is a filmmaker based in Somerset, UK.
Having worked as a costume and production designer for the majority of his twenties, he shifted into directing in 2022 after spending lockdown working as a gardener and florist.
On completing the New Voices program, his debut short film Goodbye Python was awarded BFI funding and went on to screen at BAFTA and Oscar-qualifying festivals such as Encounters, Iris Prize, BFI Flare, and was broadcast on Channel 4. He has since received BFI Early Development support for his first feature in 2024 and participated in the BFI South West Director’s Lab in 2025. He is currently working on a series of documentary shorts platforming stories of those affected by war and identicide from the Levant region.
Frank is a devotee of spiritual and queer filmmaking practices. He works without the use of a traditional script, favouring prep work and improvisation – allowing events to unfold naturally in their own way, guided by intuition. His creative process is multidisciplinary, including meditation, activism, photography and gardening. He is currently shooting and developing new work on his 16mm Bolex camera, and is open to working with others who share the same values.
Beyond directing, Frank enjoys guiding others in creating their own visual worlds. He has spent 10 years as a creative curator in film and television, deciphering the visual language of a project from its written form into carefully constructed pitch documents. His work includes creating designs for major international production companies (e.g. ProdCo., Pathé, BigTalk). He is most proud of his work on Bryn Chainey’s debut feature, Rabbit Trap – acting as Creative Consultant throughout the film’s creation from pre-production to on-set and beyond.
